Canyon Lake: Day 5

Happy birthday America!!

Wow! Today was full of a lot of super-silly fun!! I am officially calling this the day of 'animals'! We came across some unique creatures today and played with the usual ones too! Today was our last full day of fun... we have to be packed up and out of here by 2pm on Monday... *sniff-sniff*

Below: Today's catch of the day! We cooked all the catfish we caught and ate them tonight!
Below: Chris got to drive the boat today for a little while!! Can you see the happy look on his face through his sunburn??
Below: Katie and I having some silly-fun while swimming today in the lake!
Below: Katie 'touching' a small catfish we caught and put back in the lake...
Below: A frog on a water-gun that was in the pool... yes, my mom brought a pool camping!
Below: Well, we are not sure what creature this is... but it was super-large and on my cousin Laura and Russell's tent this morning...
We also had a scary event happen today... my son Nathan snuck-off to go on a boat ride with some other people in our group, but did not tell the people at our camp he was going, and told the people on the boat we said it was OK. Well, needless to say everyone freaked out because he was 'missing'... we even called the park rangers and notified the front gate people. When the boat pulled up we were all standing there with a park ranger and the people on the boat were freaking out too wondering what they did wrong. Nathan got the 'lecture' to NEVER do that to us again and we made him apologize to everyone he scared half-to-death!! He now tells us every single place he is going; even if he's going into a camper! Scary moment, but super-glad he was OK!! (Chris wants me to add that he figured all along that Nathan was on the boat, and kept telling me to calm down... easier said than done!!)

We will be on the road home tomorrow afternoon...

Canyon Lake: Day 4

Today was finally sunny for most of the day!! Yippee!! We spent a lot of time on the water and in the sun; and most of us are going to bed with sunburns!

Below: Chris and Nathan fishing together! They had so much fun!
Below: Nathan and his cousin Alex got to go swimming in the lake for a long time today!!
Below: Katie and her friend Barbara chillin' with their root-beer floats!
Below: We caught 4 more catfish this morning, but as of tonight we've caught 9 total! We're cooking them for dinner on Sunday night!!
Stay tuned for Day 5... (our last full day of fun!!)

Canyon Lake: Day 3

Today was the wettest day so far... but was still full of fun activities!

Below: We were trying to catch catfish, but this alligator gar got here first...
Below: Here is 1 of the 3 catfish we caught... we're gonna have us a fish-fry soon!!
Below: Katie was trying to help catch 'bait' for the guys to use so they could catch the bigger fishies... unfortunately, she didn't have much luck.
Below: Nathan on the other hand caught one minnow! His first fish to ever catch!! He was super-excited!
Below: Nathan had quite an exciting day... he fell asleep before he could completely get on his bed!
FYI: Katie finally got the hang of riding her bike and has turned pro!! Congrats to Katie Bug!!

Stay tuned for day 4...

Canyon Lake: Day 2

Day 2 was extremely rainy! We are experiencing the outer bands of Hurricane Alex, and we think it may rain here for the remainder of our trip; oh well, a little rain never killed anyone but the Wicked Witch of the West... she melted. Please enjoy my favorite pictures from today...

Below: Nathan feeding the deer after we got back from eating breakfast at a Cafe because the camp-kitchen was soaking wet...
Below: Katie finally got one of the deer to trust her enough to eat out of her hand!
Below: This was when we got caught in a big rain storm and we took shelter at a nearby marina... we were there for an hour!
Below: Katie finally learned how to ride her bike!! She still needs a bit more practice, but she is catching on quickly now!!
Below: This is Katie and her friend Barbara swimming in the lake... they had been waiting almost all day for the rain to stop just so they could swim!

Stay tuned for Day 3!
